Volunteers are the driving force behind our organisation. We have a number of roles currently available and operate a waiting list. All volunteers receive full support and training.

Our immediate volunteer vacancies include:-

The Warm Space

An informal drop-in for people to gather socially. We want to create a welcoming space where people can get out of the house for a short time (and therefore are not having to pay to heat their home or use electricity which combats the rising costs of energy)
We need friendly and welcoming volunteers to be available to chat with the guests, make drinks and offer refreshments.
Warm space will run fortnightly on a Monday starting 30 May. Volunteers needed 10.45am-1.15pm.

Community Market Coordinator
On the third Saturday of every month we run a Community Market at Christ Church for clients we are working with on a longer term basis. We need an organised and driven volunteer who can manage the coordination of this and develop the provision with the support of the Compassion Acts staff team.
Volunteer needed 9.45am-12.30pm one Saturday a month.

Canning Road Foodbank Centre Lead
Canning Road foodbank operates at Canning Road Church every Monday afternoon.
We need a confident volunteer to be the
main contact at the Foodbank Centre. An individual able to oversee the Foodbank sessions, ensure policies and procedures are followed, communicate any changes to Foodbank volunteers and bring any issues to the attention of the Compassion Acts staff team.
Volunteer needed 12.30pm-3.15pm.

BDS Food Pantry Volunteers
Our Food Pantry at Bishop David Sheppard School runs every Thursday afternoon.

Volunteers needed to join the small and friendly team; to be able to chat with members and put them at ease, offer a non-judgemental and listening ear and help members shop as required.
Volunteers needed 2.30pm-5pm on a fortnightly basis.

Ukrainian Welcome Centre
Compassion Acts will be acting as a coordinator for various strands of support from the voluntary and faith section in the local area. Based at the Victoria Centre on Sussex Road, we ideally need a team of volunteers to assist with our initial drop-in sessions where we will offer free Wi-Fi for contacting home, IT equipment, refreshments, advice, vouchers, contact with local agencies and more.
Drop-ins are currently running Thursdays 2pm-4pm.

Please download the 2022 Volunteer information document to see a full range of our projects and the various roles we have available.

All new volunteers will be asked to pop down to the Victoria Centre for a brief chat with our volunteer coordinator.

Completed application forms to be returned to office@compassionacts.uk or Victoria Centre, 197a Sussex Road, Southport PR8 6DG. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’d like to discuss any roles or opportunities further.

All new volunteers will be expected to provide references, and some roles may require a Disclosure and Barring Service check (formerly CRB).

Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with us!
