1: What are the times and locations of Southport Foodbank, during the emergency and for the foreseeable future?
1pm to 3pm are our new times. Monday/Wednesday/Friday at Lakeside Church side doors (bank holidays to be announced seperately) Tuesday and Thursday at Ainsdale Methodist Church, Liverpool Road 2: What is happening with the Food Pantry service? These are continuing for those in active membership prior to the lockdown. This operates a reduced service at Grace Baptist Church on a Tuesday and from Bishop David Shepherd School on a Thursday. 3: I have a donation of food, what should I do? Via shops such as Spar in Birkdale Village, Tesco at Kew, Asda at Derby Road, One Stop Shop in Formby We can also accept donations at Lakeside Church, side door 10.30 to 12.30 on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays. Donations can be made at Ainsdale Methodist Church 1pm to 3pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays 4: We are an agency with the red paper Foodbank Vouchers and we want to refer someone, what do we do? Undertake your assessment of criteria over the phone with the client and get the voucher to them safely by post or through a letterbox. If this isnt possible please contact our staff team by email on foodbank@compassionacts.uk 5: I am housebound and self isolating. Or I am enquiring on behalf of a friend or neighbour. What do I do? We are working with Sefton Council to ensure that people in this situation are supported. It may be that some of our partner churches could help also. However we recommend the Sefton Council service in the first instance. The online form is here: https://forms.sefton.gov.uk/covid19referral/ That is the route to take for people in this situation, as the Foodbank is for people vulnerable and without financial means. 6: I have worked with you before on personal debt restructuring through Community Money Advice or Christians Against Poverty. What happens to my casework? We will continue to assist you where we can. You should have heard from us directly. 7: I am concerned about personal or family debt and I've never worked with you before. What are my options? Although we cannot at the moment see any clients face to face, in the first instance you may wish to text us your name and a brief reason for needing debt advice to 07526 897384 8: I am newly in crisis from loss of casual work in local industries/ job insecurity and I am struggling to navigate the benefits system. Can you help? We have an established team of welfare benefits advisers who in normal times would see people face to face. This is only happening briefly as an assessment at Foodbank sessions at the door under social distancing guidelines. To access Welfare benefits advice by phone, text your name and a brief reason for your welfare enquiry to 07526 897384 9: I'd like to volunteer. What do I do? As we are unable to process all of the applications for help at the moment, please register with local and national volunteer registers. We are open physically for cash donations 10.30 to 12.30 Mon, Wed & Fri at the side door of Lakeside Church. Cheques payable to 'Compassion Acts' and posted to us at Lakeside Church, Fairway, Southport PR9 0LA . If you would like a Gift Aid Form, please ask. What we are most in need of, as we plan for the expected impact of this crisis is more monthly donors via the bank.
